Croatia: the jewel of the Mediterranean

Posted by Florita Beachwear on

One of the things we love about Croatia is the mix of landscape so close together. From charming medieval towns, to dense pinewood forests nestling emerald lakes and white-pebbled beaches, there is something for everyone.

Our journey starts in Dubrovnik, where we lose ourselves in the tangle of the Old Town’s streets. To get a good look at this Unesco site, we decide to take a stroll on top of the medieval walls, that surround the city. From there, we realize that the red-roofed houses are practically hanging on top of towering cliffs, with only the fortress between them. It almost looks like it’s protecting a hidden treasure, from the perils at bay. The thought dangles in the air as we sit by the crystal-clear water, for a delicious Croatian seafood lunch.

As we make our way up north, we decide to stop and explore the island of Mljet. We’ve heard wonderful things about it’s unspoiled sandy beaches at the end of green trails. So we put on our FLORITA and rent a bike to start our little adventure in the National Park. Along the way, we come across two stunning saltwater lakes and a stone bridge connecting them. The gleaming water is just too tempting and we can’t help but take a dip.

After exploring the greenest island in the country, our next stop is Hvar. Dotted with yachts by day and cocktails by night, it is the perfect spot to end our getaway in Croatia. There, our days are filled with island hopping, swimming at the Blue Cave and relaxing on the boat. To wrap up, we hop off at one of the waterfront bars and drink to the breathtaking sunset on the Adriatic Sea.
