The glowing Bodrum sea and other Turkish delights

Posted by Florita Beachwear on

As the warm sunbeams fade away in the first days of Autumn, we can’t help but reminisce about blue, sparkling waters framing a picturesque town. The image pops in our minds and we are transported back to the Turkish Bodrum Peninsula.

At the far east tip of the Aegean sea, this coastal town is full of submerged secrets and remnants of a glorious empire. Add that to breathtaking natural beauty and a buzzing nightlife, and you have your European summer escape.

It’s easy to see why so many praise it. For Bodrum is a maze of whitewashed houses sitting on a hill of wild olive trees and bougainvillea, mirrored on the shimmering waters below. There’s an adventurous feeling in the air, and you can’t help but wonder what changes has this little port been through. As we stroll around the ruins of what was once one of the seven wonders of the world - the Mausoleum - we realize that Bodrum has never gone by unnoticed. Emperors from Graeco-Roman times, to Persian Rulers and now the European jet-set have always saved a special place in their hearts for the Turkish Riviera.

Which may explain the exotic blend of sophistication and authenticity. In the nearby shores, charming Ottoman mansions and wooden jetties welcome guests gliding past in yachts. And between a dip and a cocktail, the warm salty breeze carries the Islamic call for prayer across the bay.
